WHAT’S YOUR DRESS SENSE IN THIS INFORMATION AGE? (Sis. M F. Oladapo)

WHAT’S YOUR DRESS SENSE IN THIS INFORMATION AGE?

Your outward look reflects what your inward being is. Your dressing determines how you are addressed. God is concerned about the dressing of His children (His representatives). When He created Adam and Eve, He clothed them with Heaven’s wears (His own glory), because He too covers Himself with glory, hence Adam and Eve had great power and authority over the animals until they sinned and lost God’s glory and He clothed them with animal’s hide, no wonder the animals rebelled against them. The dressing that exposes your nakedness can cause the opposite sex to lust after you and may result to raping you. when you dress as a daughter of Zion (with royal wears), without you telling people who you are, you will be regarded and treated as a princess.

Your dressing with worldly clothes will only influence the world, while you influence Heaven and earth when you put on Jesus. The bride of Jesus will wear on the last day the special dress described in Rev. 19: 5-8, white, clean and beautiful when dressed. In Heaven and in eternity, your dressing will speak for your righteousness. Christians were known in those days not by their verbal claims but by their dressing and modest adornment. It is the other way round today, some ministers/minister’s wives can be mistaken for street urchins and sisters of easy virtues.

Today, some Christian sisters paint their faces (make up) like Jezebel. However, though no place in the Bible says if you paint your face, you won’t make Heaven, painting of faces was mentioned in two places in the Bible and they showed terrible experiences. 2 Kings 9:30, Jezebel made up herself and decked her Jewelleries the day she was going to die. She was eaten up by dogs and left with carcasses. Jeremiah 4:30,31. God was speaking in anger to the daughters of Zion, you may decide to paint your facethe way you like but does it worth it? If God should because of this debar you from Heaven, then you are on your own. Know that nobody ever add sugar to honey. You should realise that as a child of God, you are honey, no need to add sugar (make up). Anytime you see any wood painted, the wood underneath is inferior, nobody paints an ebony wood. Some Christian sisters in the name of fashion wears wig, the one whose head it’s cut from the kind of anointing they do not know. We are advised and warned by our spiritual father, Daddy G. O. not to joke with our heads. He said some ministers will come for ordination with wigs on their heads, you wonder which is to be anointed, the head or the wig? Revelation 7:1-3,, four angels standing on the four corners of the earth holding the four winds of the earth and the sea, and another angel ascending from the east having the seal of the living God to stop the four angels in order to mark the servants of God that should not be hit or hurt. Note that what you wear matters, that is why soldiers wear uniforms so that they do not shoot theirs. Can God identify you as His? What is inside will show on the outside. A case where two oranges, ripe and unripe were presented to some people to choose one, they chose the ripe one, they were asked why did they choose the ripe one when they have not tasted it, they said the look from the outside show the ripe will be sweeter than the unripe.

Another case is that of a supposed Christian sister that was to obtain visa to attend a Christian organised convention abroad, the other participants were given visa while this particular sister was denied hers and asked the visa officer at the embassy why she was denied and he answered her that she was not one of them as she dressed differently. When you see a lady exposing her breast and thighs, she is saying to men out there that she is available. She doesn’t understand that God keeps valuable and precious things covered and protected. Gold is buried deep in the soil; covered and protected. Diamond, pearl are all buried deep; covered and protected.

In conclusion, it is important to be well dressed for every occasion, in Revelation 19:11-14, the Bridegroom’s dressing reflects His righteousness and the battle He is going into. Your dressing to dine with the King of Kings to evangelise, attend important interviews must be at your best, descent, clean and presentable in glorifying God. Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and saviour today. Live your life to glorify Him. Put on Jesus and it will be well to see you here in this world and in Heaven.

Maranatha!!!

EVIDENCE OF GOD FROM SCIENCE (with Fred Omoregie)

EVIDENCE OF GOD FROM SCIENCE

In this article, I’ll be showing you facts from a broad array of different kinds of science. They will demonstrate that an all-powerful supreme being of infinite intelligence carefully provided more than sufficient proof that He exists.

“You will seek me and find me when you seek with all your heart.” –Jeremiah 29:13

“Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind.” – Albert Einstein

The above quotes are from two different and mostly contradictory sources, one from the biblical book of Jeremiah and the other from a world renowned and famous scientist and inventor. Scientists for centuries have challenged the church dogma and most clergy are no more tolerant of scientists. But now theology and science are entering into a new relationship says physicist turned theologian, Robert John Russell who founded the centre for theology and natural sciences at the graduate theological union in Berkeley.

Physics have stumbled on signs that the cosmos is custom made for life and consciousness. If such unchanging constants of nature – like the strength of gravity, the charge of an electron and the mass of a proton were the tiniest bit different, the atom will not hold together, stars will not burn and life would never have made an appearance. An absolute proof of the existence of God from science can be seen from within the scientific community itself. Let us consider the first law of thermodynamics which states that “matter and energy can neither be created nor destroyed.” This means there’s no new matter or energy coming into existence and there’s no new matter or energy going out of existence. All who state that the universe came into existence from nothing violate the first law of thermodynamics which was established by the very scientific community. In summary, this law plainly demonstrates that the universe and all matter and energy within it must have a divine origin – a specific moment in which it was created by someone who is an all-powerful God.

Charles Townes who shared the 1964 Nobel Prize in Physics for discovering the principles of laser stated thus “many have a feeling that somehow intelligence is involved in the laws of the universe.” A sizeable number of scientists have come to realize that one cannot understand God without understanding the works of his hand. A Jewish Scholar once pronounced that he doesn’t think that by studying science one will be forced to conclude that there must be God, But if one have already found God, then that individual can say from understanding science. “Ah, I see what God has done in the world.”

The arguments therefore of quantum physics shows a design which did not come into reality by chance, and the fact that science believe that there is evidence that the universe began and the logic that everything that began has a cause points also to an intelligent creator.

Another proof of God from science can be seen in our clocks and watches. In 1967, scientists built an atomic clock that uses cesium 133 atoms because it oscillates (vibrates) at the rate of 9,192,631,770 times per second. This clock is believed to be inaccurate within one second every 30 million years. Cesium 133 atoms never vary a single vibration, they are steady, constant, and reliable. It cannot be an accident of nature that just happens to always turn out exactly the same. God had to design the complexity and reliability of these atoms. No honest mind can think otherwise.

In conclusion, we have considered God’s power and intelligence, but none of these tells us much about the character of God. The prologue of the Gospel of John concludes, “No one has ever seen God, he who is at the father’s side, he has made Him known” (John 1:18). There is no other claim in the Universe like that, no other religion offers anything like it; the sublime claim that the creator of the universe has entered his own creation. In the same John 1:18, one can infer that the creator of the universe, which has been a constant study for atheists, scientists and all intelligent being was made known by His son, Jesus Christ. Therefore, everybody that is seeking to understand the universe with all his heart is in reality, seeking to know God (Jeremiah 25:13).

TRAIN UP A CHILD IN THE WAY OF THE LORD (with Oluwayemisi Emeka)

TRAIN UP A CHILD IN THE WAY OF THE LORD

Proverb 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Note that the Lord doesn’t tell us to teach a child, but instead, we are to train a child. That means we are to mould and shape by discipline and practice. How do we do that?

LOVE CHILDREN

Some folks think you spell love M-O-N-E-Y. I think you spell it T-I-M-E and not only time, but also we show love when we tell children we love them. Over and over again, tell them that you love them. That may sound corny, but do it! Children also need your touch. When you walk past them, give them a pet or place your hand on their shoulder. There is a bumper sticker that says, “Kids need hugs not drugs.” That’s good! So many young people who are on drugs have never had somebody demonstrate love to them in that way.

LIFT CHILDREN

Children need encouragement (Colossian 3:21) says, “Fathers provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.” Don’t put them down, life them up instead. Now, let me clarify an important distortion between praising and encouraging children. Praising a child tends to focus on performance. Encouragement instead focuses on worth. Encouragement tells a child that he or she is valuable in the sight of God.

LIMIT CHILDREN

Children will tell you that they don’t want limits. Don’t believe them. If you don’t set limits, a child unconsciously feels rejected. Even in the Garden of Eden, God set limits not dampen the spirits of Adam and Eve but to show His wise provision for all that they needed. And keep in mind that children will push against limits. If you give in, then the boundary collapses and security is lost. Giving children limits helps them learn that the world has consequences.

LEAD CHILDREN

I have heard parents tell their children, “Don’t do as I do; do as I say.” Well, I think that is double-talk to a child. We must imitate Christ when it comes to training our children. Jesus protected what He preached. He lived it. He taught it.

LAUGH WITH CHILDREN

Your home ought to be the happiest place on earth. It should be the place where all the other kids want to hang out. You might say, “Well, if all the kids hang out here, they’ll ruin my couch, they’ll get my couch dirty, they’ll eat everything in the refrigerator.” Wonderful! What’s worth more? Your rug, your couch, your groceries, or your children? When your home is the gathering place, you get to check out the guests! You can hear what they say, watch how they act, and see how they dress. You can see who is keeping company with your kids. Let your house ring with Laughter, for the Bible says, “A merry heart doeth good like a Medicine” (Proverb 17:22a). These simple things will go a long way in helping you learn how to raise some young champions for Jesus.

THE GOD OF THE THREEFOLD (with Fred Omoregie)

THE GOD OF THE THREEFOLD

When God appeared to Moses at the burning bush, it is remarkable that he identifies himself by a threefold designation. “I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob” (Exodus 3:6). A little later sends Moses to the Israelites to announce his intentions to them, the same threefold expression comes as a kind of refrain through this pronouncement, “Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel. The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and the God of Jacob has sent me unto you; this is my name forever and this is my memorial unto all generation” (Exodus 3:15). Jesus himself used the same expression in a passage that occurs in each of the first three Gospels. “As touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken to you by God saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead but of the living.” (Matthew 22:31-32).

What is the significance for us His children of these three recurring names?

The apostle Paul assures us that what is contained in the Scriptures was written for our learning. And here is something that is brought to our attention in both the old and the new testaments. This suggests that in the old and new dispensation, God is working to one identical principle, which is calling us to be His people, His chosen, His Israel. As Apostle Paul wrote, “I tell you, we who believe in the Lord Jesus are the Israel of God.”

Abraham, Isaac and Jacob hold a special status in the providence of God and one not held by any others. Theirs is the privilege of leading us all to God in a unique way. Therefore brethren, don’t forget to call on the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob every time we pray through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

DEATH: the beginning, not the end. (with Folashade Farotimi)

DEATH: the beginning, not the end.

Although death is a natural part of life, many of us do not know how to deal with it. We spend all of our life fighting against it only to lose the battle in the end. Or is this actually a loss? Death does not have to mean the defeat of life. In fact, if you are a Christian, it is the opposite: it is the beginning of life eternally.

Death seems like the end to us. This is because most of us cannot see beyond the gates of death into that which exists beyond. The ancients pictured this afterlife as a hunting ground, celestial life and many other scenarios. The truth is that death is the continuance of our spirits into an eternal situation – Heaven or Hell. Death is not the end of us because our spirits do not die. Only our bodies die. Our spirits are eternal. This is because our spirit actually comes to us through the Eternal One Himself – God.

The Scriptures tell us that, And the Lord God forward man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. 1 The breath of God is eternal; therefore, our souls, or spirits, are eternal. Our bodies, however, came from the dirt, or “dust of the ground.” When we die, our bodies return to the ground. In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it was thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. 2 This is accomplished through the natural process of decomposition. Although the body decays and returns to the soil, the spirit remains eternal and returns to God. Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. 3

As Christians, we can look forward to death because it means the return to Jesus Christ, our saviour. We do not have to fear death. We do not have to dread eternity. As Paul said in I Corinthians 15:55, O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? Death cannot hold us because Jesus Christ defeated it during His death and resurrection. Jesus declared, Verily, verily. I say unto you. He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. 4

Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour? If so, then you do not have to fear death. You can live your life with the confidence that Jesus will always be there to help you, even when you take your last breath and go into eternity. He will still be there steadfastly, assuring us that we are His children and, therefore, loved, cherished and safe.

When a loved one who is a Christian dies, we do not have to grieve as those who do not know Christ. We can take comfort in knowing that our loved one left a life that has hardship, suffering and problems and that the person is now in the eternal rest that God promised His people. Christians who die immediately go to Heaven. They do not have to wait in a cold grave somewhere. They do not have to remain alone until Christ’s return.

As Paul wrote to the Corinthian Christians, We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.5 Consider that for a moment: For a Christian, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. How much nicer it would be if we too could be present with Jesus? No pain, no suffering, no sorrow, eternal peace and joy. That does not sound bad at all, does it? Many times we fail to consider this when we lose a loved one though.

Have you lost a Christian loved one recently? If so, then take comfort in knowing that he/ she is now in the Presence of God Himself. Your loved one will have no more problems, no trials, temptations or tribulations, eternal peace and joy with the eternal one Himself. Picture your loved one in the arms of Jesus. Feel your spirit rise as you focus of the reality of your loss and comprehend your loved one’s gain.

If you too are a Christian, then you can also take comfort in knowing that one day you will see your loved one again. It is not an eternal loss; it is only temporary. The next time you are joined together, in Heaven, you will not be separated again. You will have eternity to bask in the Presence of the Lord with your loved ones who have gone ahead of you. Remember: Heaven is a destination and some people will arrive before others.

This does not mean that you will not feel sorrow at your loved one’s death. It does mean that you can find hope in what can seem to be a hopeless situation for many.

AS A CITIZEN OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF ISRAEL (with Tobi Delly)

YOUTH ALIVE
AS A CITIZEN OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF ISRAEL

We are in a strange age. A knowledge based society planting knowledge based seeds and thereby reaping a knowledge based economy. This is the generation of the youths. Thousands of start-ups rise in one day by youths around the world. Nigeria has seen youngsters like 8 year old who became the youngest Microsoft Certified Professional, fastest growing technology companies like Nairaland (started by an Ife dropout), Jobberman (started by Opeyemi Awoyemi as an IT project in Ife), Konga, Jumia, etc. and Forbes rated hottest techie like Twine Pine started by an Obafemi Awolowo University graduate with office based in Kenya, Vconnect, etc. Hundreds of Nigerian youths are working at the Googleplex in California. I know lots of them who didn’t even wait to finish school. There’s an abundance of information on earth, abundance of knowledge and specialized knowledge, abundance of skills, abundance of air, abundance of water; even though some are taken for granted. There is an abundance of everything, whatsoever you desire. The question is, if you are empowered to get it.

We youths in Christ Jesus are citizens of the commonwealth of Israel. In Ephesians 2:12, 13, That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. As a citizen of the commonwealth of Israel, you mustn’t complain about your environment, about the obstacles on your path or try explaining away your failures. There are distinct features contained in this few select type of youths. A citizen of the commonwealth of Israel must have a Vision. He must be enlisted in the calling of God for his life; his passion early in life. Preferably, in his 20s. As a youth, you must enlist I the race of life early in your life. The earlier you get enlisted the earlier you shine. How old was Jesus Christ when he has been telling his parents he is about his father’s business? How old was Joseph when he caught the vision? How old was David when he cut Goliath down? How old was Albert Einstein when he proved to his Professor the existence of God? How old was Benjamin Franklin when he strucked the deal? Jesus Christ was 12, David was 17, Joseph was 17, Albert Einstein was 4, and Benjamin Franklin was a teenager too.

Numbers 31 shows that the children of Israel got enlisted by the age of 20. I.e. in their 20s, this means you must have discovered your purpose of existence in your teen age. You must catch your vision, the instilment of discipline and the character of a visionary and put in the quality of investment into your dream.

Joseph caught the dream as a teenager, he ascended the throne at age 30. Between the commitment to dream and the actualization of the dream in the life of Joseph is just 13 years. David got there at 30, Jesus got there at 30. These are the investments of their youths coming into realization. You must have vision, dream, and be able to put a quality investment into chasing the dream. Remember, God is not mocked, whatsoever you sow, you shall reap. It’s a simple reciprocal law that works like a consuming fire. Instead of going to that party, instead of walking with those friends who’ll never add to your life or multiply you but instead subtract and divide your life. Withdraw and meditate on your life, discover your talents and passion. Invest your time in good books, set goals and hot-chase them. As a secondary school student, nothing stops you from reading your textbooks from the first page to the last page twice and thrice. I did that for my textbooks in those days. If you read 5,000 words per day, in a month you’d have read an average of 10 books. In a year 120 books, in 5 years, you’d have read 600 books. It is that simple really.

Citizens of the commonwealth of Israel don’t talk anyhow, don’t just yell and involve in profane talks. You don’t have to be born again before you know what is right for your life and what is wrong. It is your choice to either chose an empowering path to a glorious destiny or a destructive life. Righteousness will only give you the self-discipline to carry on into your ordained destiny to become who you’ve always wanted to be. Life is spiritual, everyone has someone they consult. There are hundreds of Alfas praying for Dangote every morning, afternoon and night. The so called Atheist has something that instils beliefs and discipline in them. If they are succeeding, how much more, ye citizens of the commonwealth of Israel. Choose to become a player and not a fan in this one life that you have. Like David Oyedepo said “show me a lose youth in the kingdom of God, and his star may never rise.”

YOUR BRAIN AND THE BIBLE 1 (with Tobi Delly)

YOUR BRAIN AND THE BIBLE (1)

Your brain has its brilliance, its flaws, it has an ability to pay attention. But its level of focus and attention is dependent on how you direct it. Now the question is, how much can you or do you pay attention?

PAY ATTENTION

Attention is your brain’s most powerful tool to make sense of busy world and streamline the thousands of things a day competing for your time and energy. Scientists are finally beginning to understand what attention is and how it takes shape in the brain. As we try to focus on one thing to another thing and think we have a grasp of what’s going on in our environment several million things changes in our environment that we aren’t aware of or conscious of. Even though we think we are paying attention. We all know change is constant. And in a rapidly changing world where the universe is moving in several million light years we do not notice the changes in occurrence when we seat comfortable in our living room watching the Television and we don’t feel we are going to fall down because the earth rotates very fast everything we take it for granted that everything is stable.

Several millions of information, data and thoughts shift through our mind at great speed, and with this foreboding we read the Bible and we think we are actually getting the best out of it. But in reality we are not. That’s why statistics revealing a higher number of Christians who knows how to quote the Bible rather than Christians reflecting Christianity itself. In “The Lost Symbol” controversial Writer and Author Dan Brown, tries to show the world his idea of what the Bible means in generations past and what it means to the modern world. He typifies his story with his popular Character “Robert Langdon,” a Harvard Symbology Professor who at the end discovers that the lost symbol referred to is the Bible. In general terms, can you remember the last time you read the Bible beyond the line? Well, you can be surprised by that question, but it’s painfully true. Can you remember? The Bible has most of its messages beyond the line.

Typical urban youth goes to Church on Sunday with a tablet in hand (preferably, a Lumia, Samsung or Apple), with the earpiece plugged into his ears in what leading Psychologist Researcher and Writer “Daniel Goleman” calls a Universal snub. He can quickly flip through the numerous Bible Application he has on his device (thanks to the millions of programmers) in a response to the Pastor’s message and immediately switch applications to something that interests or fascinates him the more. Of course if asked by the Usher if he’s listening to the message he’d just quickly with the tip of his finger flip back to the Bible Application (thanks to Windows phone 8).

I know you’ll find this article rather interesting and amusing. But am I trying to put on the youth? No. adults, elderly ones also have their share of this modern era.

ARE YOU STILL PAYING ATTENTION?

This paradigm changing expository article will delve into attention, perception and thoughts during and when you’re reading the Bible showing you how you short-circuit your brain and reducing its potential when you’re supposed to get the best out of the Bible. When next you want to read the Bible, find a quiet place, make sure you have a jotter with you. Read a line for five minutes. I repeat, read a line for five minutes and write all you can interpret from it. And you must be aware of that flicker of thought which can switch your mind from paying detailed attention. In that fraction of a second, you’ve short-circuit your brain. Professor David Strayer’s research at the University of Utah has shown there is no such thing as multi-tasking only short-circuiting of the brain. Your brain can never do two things at the same time, it will have to stop one to focus on the other. If you think you’re reading the Bible while talking to another person or listening to someone or something at the same time. You’re not reading your Bible with your full attention.

Many of the world’s leading attention experts live in Las Vegas, they are not scientist though but are magicians. Magicians believe if an audience attention can be drawn to something else, something on another level then they can quickly make subtle changes that the audience wouldn’t see. Audience don’t see the changes when they are made not because they’re not paying attention, it’s because they can’t pay attention to everything at once. And like I wrote earlier, this makes the brain prioritize what to focus attention on. Your focus might be on the obstacle you encountered and with that mind read the Bible. What interpretation do you think you will get? It’s most likely what is related to the obstacle you’re facing. But do you notice your absorption rate of the words and how much you can remember of the exact words you read some minutes ago? How about the interpretation of what you read in your present mental state. I.e. without using a biased, prejudiced or boxed mind. In actual fact we know less of The Bible than we think we know. The way a mourner who just lost a loved one will interpret a Bible passage will certainly be different when interpreted by someone who just won a million dollars. Remember, we use the same brain to interpret and analyse. What makes the difference then?

JESUS IS EVERYTHING (with Pastor Femi 'Oladapo)

JESUS IS EVERYTHING

Jesus Christ is the reason why we are here, without Him there’ll be no Christianity, no Bible and nothing else. Let us look at our lives; business, family, career, everything. Jesus owns it all.

1.       He is our Salvation, Matthew 1:21, Acts 2:21, “And it shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

2.       He forgives and carries our sin, Isaiah 53:5, “He was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities.” 1 John 1:8-9, “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us; if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

3.       He is our provision, Philippians 4:19

4.       He is our abundance, John 10:10

5.       He is our strength, Philippians 4:13

6.       He is our success, 1 Corinthians 15:10

7.       He is our peace, John 14:27

8.       He is our Joy, John 16:24

9.       He is our power, Matthew 28:18, 3:11

10.    He is our Freedom, John 8:36

11.    He is our security, John 6:37

12.    He is our blessings, Galatians 3:13-14, 2 Corinthians 8:9

13.    He is our entire life, John 1:4, “In Him was life, and the life was the light was the light of men.” Acts 17:28, “For in Him we live, and move and have our being.”

Hence, we should praise Him like David –

a.        Continuously – Psalm 34:1, “I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. Vs.3 “…exalt His name”

b.       While we live – Psalm 146:1, 2, “Praise ye the Lord, Praise the Lord, O my soul, while I live I will praise the Lord, I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.”

c.        Every day and forever – Psalm 145:1, 2, “I will extol thee, my God, O king, and I will bless thy name forever and ever; Every day I will bless thee, and I will praise thy name forever and ever.”

d.       With dance and instruments – Psalm 149:3, in sanctuary, Psalm 150:1

e.        With our substance, Proverb 3:9, 10

f.         Truth and spirit, John 4:23, 24
